🏞️ National Park Spotlight

Kisotein Lake

Kisotein Lake — Nestled in the sequoia forests in the foothills of Mount Caukui, Kisotein Lake National Park covers 247,293 acres and roughly half of the lakefront. The lake is fed by glacier melt and has a striking blue color due the minerals. The nearby village hosts the Festival of Lights with the park every September 23rd where special lanterns are released on to the lake. The festival is linked to old folklore that tells of wispy lights that lead lost sailors back home.
